The Windsor Knolls Recreation Center is one of the many recreational centers in Fairfax County. It is a popular spot for winter activities such as ice skating, sledding and skiing, swimming and other aquatic sports during spring to fall, and baseball and tennis during spring to fall. There are also indoor courts available for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and lacrosse. In addition to this there is ample space indoors and outdoors that can be used for parties or functions as well as public events such as plays or musicals under special arrangements with staff.
This recreation center offers both full time memberships for citizens living within its boundaries (Windsor Knolls District) as well as a day pass program providing daily access by citizens who do not live in the district. The prices are very reasonable and the hours of operations are very flexible.
The main facility is located on Windsor Woods Road and has a large indoor pool, outdoor pool with lifeguards, gymnasium, fitness center, weight lifting room and aerobics studio, dance floor, three indoor tennis courts that can be lit for night play, full size baseball diamond with bleachers seating 250 people as well as an eight lane track surrounding it. There is also a small softball field outside for beginners to practice their skills before playing on the larger field. The park also has two basketball courts inside which are available after swimming season until around 10 pm or later if someone requests to use them outside regular operating hours. All of these facilities are available during normal operation hours of 5 am to 11 pm.
In addition to this there is a full playground complete with slides, monkey bars and swings as well as a smaller one for young children to play on during the other seasons of the year. There are also picnic areas both alongside the baseball diamond and in an open air section next to the indoor courts. The amphitheatre also hosts various public events and plays from time to time, which makes it an excellent resource for people living in surrounding communities.
